Delete your account.
We're sorry to see you go. Below is how account and data deletion works at Dogear — and the simplest way to request yours.
Include the email address on your account so we can find it.
◆ What happens after you ask
Your request is processed within 30 days. We send a confirmation email when deletion is complete. In most cases it's much faster than that — usually within a week.
◆ What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, the following are permanently removed:
- Your profile, username, display name, and avatar
- Your entire bookshelf — reading, read, and TBR lists
- All ratings, mood tags, and reviews you've left
- All quotes, notes, and saved highlights
- Your book club memberships, messages, and any clubs you host
- Your Stack posts, comments, and reactions
- Your reading statistics and history
- Account email and authentication data
◆ What may be retained
We retain a small amount of data only where required for legitimate purposes:
- Anonymized aggregate analytics — your individual activity is unlinked, but app-wide totals (like "47,000 books rated this month") may persist
- Transaction and subscription records required by law (typically retained for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes)
- Backup snapshots that age out within 30 days of deletion
- Content reports or moderation records, where retention is necessary to maintain community safety

◆ Prefer to delete from the app?
You can also delete your account directly from within Dogear. Open the app, go to Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account, and follow the prompts. The process is the same — you'll receive a confirmation email when deletion is complete.
